Mr. Laurence Verga is one of three Founding Principals of Mastiff Capital Partners. Mr. Verga brings over 40 years of experience in family ownership and development of commercial properties.
In 1958 the Verga family started Verga Real Estate on the Monterey Peninsula, California, which housed over twenty sales persons, as well as having ‘in house’ insurance and escrow departments. In subsequent years Verga Real Estate built one subdivisions of single family dwellings, fourteen multi family apartment complexes and their presiding office building. Over the next two decades the portfolio continued to grow including the acquisition of five additional Downtown Monterey office buildings and two three story retail buildings in Cannery Row, Monterey.
Mr. Laurence Verga has continued this success by developing, renovating, acquiring and selling commercial property on both coasts of the United States, including properties in California, Virginia, North Carolina and Massachusetts. Currently, the portfolio comprises: 15 multi family apartment structures consisting of 293 apartment units, three multi tenant office buildings in Downtown Monterey, a retail and an office property in Charlottesville, one retail center in Greensboro, and an industrial building in Hanover, MA. Tenants of these structures include: The State of California, The University of Virginia, Wearguard (Aramark), Staples, Dave’s Bridal World (Hecht’s), Alltel, The Community Hospital of The Monterey Peninsula and San Jose Construction. Mr. Verga has purchased, improved and sold three commercial office buildings in downtown Monterey, California, a mixed use retail structure in Carmel, California, and eleven single family homes in Marina, California.
In 2005, Mr. Verga teamed with Mr. Joe Fitzpatrick of Ethan Christopher Financial in re financing the Verga Portfolio, a $34,000,000 transaction. In that same year Mr. Verga and Mr. Fitzpatrick financed an $8,100,000 commercial property in Greensboro, North Carolina, and a $10,800,000 industrial complex in Hanover, Massachusetts
Prior to a career in commercial real estate Mr. Verga worked in sales and sales management for ABC/Disney, AT&T, NCC (National Cable Communications), IDG (International Data Group) and CBS/Viacom. He has overseen over $100 million in sales revenues throughout his career and has been credited for opening a sales division for NCC and IDG (International Data Group), and revitalizing a CBS/Viacom radio sales division in San Francisco, CA. Mr. Verga is also active in charity involvement including founding the Verga Project at the University of Virginia Health Services, whose goal is to fund research toward a cure for polycystic kidney disease.
Mr. Verga received his Bachelors of Arts from the University of California, Berkeley, a Masters in Arts in Psychology from Antioch University, Yellow Springs, Ohio. He also pursued doctoral studies at The University of San Francisco, in Organization and Leadership. He currently resides in Charlottesville, VA, with his wife Elizabeth and three children Oliver, George, and Agnes. |
